By Maisy Sinclair The Beginning Many people know Claude Monet but do they know this? Claude’s full name is actually Oscar Claude Monet. He was born on the 14th November 1840 on the 5th floor of 45 rue Laffitte, in the 9th arrondissement of Paris. Early Life On the 20th May 1841, he was baptized in the local parish church, his legal name was Oscar-Claude, but his parents called him simply Oscar Monet. Family Claude was the second son of Claude Adolphe Monet and Louise Justine Aubree Monet, both of them the second generation Parisians. Job Claude Monet was a painter and he had many different famous works. His father wanted him to go into the family grocery business, but Monet wanted to become an artist. His mother was a singer. Works of Art Claude has lots of famous paintings, here are some of them- Impression, Sunrise Rouen, Cathedral series, London Parliament series, Poplars, Water Lilies and Haystacks. Sight Difficulties Claude was partially sighted, which means he could see parts of pictures not the full image. Once when he was painting one of is works he couldn’t really see what he was painting. After when he could see it he hated and was ashamed of his art. Here was the picture Claude hated. The End
