SRI AssessmentElectronic (Online) Format What is the SRI Assessment and how will we take the test? About the SRI Assessment • The SRI Assessment is a test that will measure your reading level and report it as a Lexile score • Lexile scores are between BR (0-100L) and 1500L • Lexiles are also used to show the reading level for many books, magazines, and articles. Tens of thousands of books and tens of millions of articles have Lexile measures. • Using your Lexile score, you and your teachers and your family can find reading materials that have Lexile levels that are matched to your Lexile Range. Detailed information on Lexiles can be found at: http://www.lexile.com About the SRI Assessment • It is important for you to do your best so the test can correctly determine your Lexile Level. This will help you, your teachers, and your family find books and other reading materials that match your reading level. • You will take the test on the computer by going to a specific website and logging in with your username and password. • Each student gets a different test with different questions. • The test is not for a grade and is not timed. However, you cannot go back and review or change your answers. • You should take your time and read carefully. • If you do not finish before the period is over, you will be able to log back in later and continue the test. Practice Test There will be a short practice test before the actual assessment. This will help you become familiar with how the questions look, how to click to select answers, and how to go on to the next page. Raise your hand if you do not understand and the teacher will help you. Practice Test If you have difficulty with the practice questions, check with the teacher (or testing coordinator) before continuing. The Actual SRI Test • After the Practice Test, you will start the real test. • Take your time and read carefully. • You can skip up to three questions if you need to. • The test is “adaptive” and will change or adjust based on your answers. Your reading passages and questions will be different than what other students get. When you finish the test, you will be able to see your Lexile score. You can also print out a reading list that is based upon your score and the interests (genres) you selected at the beginning of the assessment. Activity -After the Test (optional) When you finish, your teacher may give you a form for recording your Lexile score and listing books in your Lexile Range. You can go to the Lexile website (www.lexile.com ) and search for books in your favorite categories that are in their Lexile range.
