Measure words Yí ge jiě jie 一个姐姐 one older sister Measure words sān ge dì di 三个弟弟 three younger brothers Measure words liǎng ge mèi mei 两个妹妹 two younger sisters Measure words In Chinese you must always put a measure word in between a number and a noun. Number + measure word + noun ge 个 is a common m.w. and should be used if you don’t know the specific m.w. for a noun. liǎng 两 = 2 when used with a measure word.
