WWII and YOU
Propaganda

In your notes, jot down any ideas you have
about propaganda:


What IS propaganda?
Does propaganda affect you in your daily life?
Propaganda is…

“communication aimed at influencing a
community of people toward some cause or
position.”

…How would you do that!?
How? I’ll tell you…

#1: Through the clever use of language

#2: Through image and brands (TV
commercials, news programs, magazine
ads, even movies!)
Propaganda…
...is like an argument that you didn’t know
you were in.
Someone is trying to convince you to think a
certain way about something…and you
usually don’t know it’s happening.
Remember…


Propaganda is ANY technique that
attempts to influence the opinions,
emotions, attitudes, or behaviors of a group
of people IN ORDER TO BENEFIT THE
SPONSOR!
The purpose is to PERSUADE!

Advertising to Politics



In advertising, these propaganda
techniques are useful to sell a product or

just PERSUASIVE.
In politics, these techniques are extremely
useful to get you to believe something or
participate in something.
