Forum" at your regional meetings or
specialized meeting.
Coding roundtable forums provide
opportunity for coders to learn, share, and
discuss issues related to coding, data
quality, and compliance.

Provides guidelines on how to implement
a Regional Coding Roundtable.
Provides topics and resources for
research and discussion.
Semi-annual updates will be posted on
MHIMA’s website.
GOALS of the
Coding Roundtable





Improve coding skills through education.
Provide local networking opportunities
for coders.
Attract new members to the coding and HIM
profession.
Create an environment that facilitates
mentoring.
Share coding practices, challenges, and
requirements to affect policy in the industry.
Coding Roundtable Tool Kit
 Several
different discussion topics
are included in this kit
 Appoint a moderator for each topic
 Resources necessary to answer
questions will be listed with each
discussion topic
Setting Up The Roundtable
Set up tables for 6-8 People
 Designate different topics for each table
 Each table will need 6-8 copies of the
discussion questions for the designated
topic
 On back of one of the copies, place the
answer/reference sheet for discussion
topic

