Other series, like the B-Series, are of lesser importance. In the A-Format series, the largest size is A0. The size of an A1 paper is half the size of A0 while A2 is half the size of A1 and so forth.. For technical drawings A4 is considered to be the smallest paper size. Smaller-sized AFormat papers (i.e. A5, A6, etc) are very rarely used for technical drawings. 3 Computer Aided Engineering Drawing .CAE Lab 2012 / 12 / 2 The A-Format Paper Sizes When a format smaller than A4 is needed, it is obtained by simply halving A$ along its longer side. For instance A5 has 210-mm as its longer side and (297/2 = 148- mm) as its shorter side. . Format A4 is exclusively used in an upright position. The other formats (which are lager in size than A4) may be used in an upright position or horizontal position. . 4 Computer Aided Engineering Drawing Format Sheet mm A0 841 X 1189 A1 594 X 841 A2 420 X 594 A3 297 X 420 A4 210 X 297 ……. …… .CAE Lab 2012 / 12 / 2 Title Block In every engineering drawing, a Title Block is included at the bottom (right-hand corner). The Title Blocks are locally standardized but should be designed in such a way that it can be easily understood. The information needed in any standard Title Block is normally: . 5 Computer Aided Engineering Drawing .CAE Lab 2012 / 12 / 2 6 Computer Aided Engineering Drawing .CAE Lab 2012 / 12 / 2 Basic Instruments and Equipment T-Square This is one of the oldest drawing instruments that still finds wide spread use both in the industry and in schools. The size of a T-Square is determined by its blade length. Blade lengths of 60mm, 90-mm, 120- mm and 150-mm are common. USES: The T-Square is used primarily as a guide for drawing horizontal parallel lines. 7 Computer Aided Engineering Drawing .CAE Lab 2012 / 12 / 2 Set Square Set Squares (SSs) are transparent, triangular-shaped drawing instruments that are used with a T-Square for drawing vertical or inclined lines. SSs contain angles most commonly used in technical drawing, i.e. 30, 45, 60 and 90. The height/length of SSs is typically 15-cm, 20-cm, and 25-cm. 8 Computer Aided Engineering Drawing .CAE Lab 2012 / 12 / 2 9 Computer Aided Engineering Drawing .CAE Lab 2012 / 12 / 2 10 Computer Aided Engineering Drawing .CAE Lab 2012 / 12 / 2 Line Types In Engineering Drawing, we make use of different lines and line styles to convey the desired message. These lines differ in (i) thickness and (ii) style. Typical uses of these lines are summarized below. 11 Computer Aided Engineering Drawing .CAE Lab 2012 / 12 / 2 Beginning AutoCAD 2002 12 Computer Aided Engineering Drawing .CAE Lab 2012 / 12 / 2 Starting AutoCAD 2002 a) from the Windows ‘Start screen’ with a double left-click on the AutoCAD 2002 icon b) b y s e l ec ti ng t he wi ndo ws tas k b ar s eque nc e :: S t a r t - P r o g r a m s - A u t o C A D 2 0 0 2 - A u t o C A D 2 0 0 2 Both methods briefly display the AutoCAD 2002 logo and then the AutoCAD 2002 Today screen/dialogue box as Fig, . 13 Computer Aided Engineering Drawing .CAE Lab 2012 / 12 / 2 The Graphics Screen The AutoCAD 2002 graphics screen displays the following: 1 The title bar 2 The ‘windows buttons’ 3 The menu bar 4 The Standard toolbar 5 The Object Properties toolbar 6 The Windows taskbar 7 The Status bar 8 The Command prompt window area 14 9 The coordinate system icon 10 The drawing area 11 The on-screen cursor 12 The grips 13 Scroll bars 14 The Layout tabs 15 The Modify toolbar 16 The Draw toolbar Computer Aided Engineering Drawing .CAE Lab 2012 / 12 / 2 15 Computer Aided Engineering Drawing .CAE Lab 2012 / 12 / 2 Drawing Line Absolute, Incremental and Polar رسم الخطوط باستخدام المدخالت المطلقة والتزايدية والقطبية 16 Computer Aided Engineering Drawing .CAE Lab 2012 / 12 / 2 COPY استخدام امر النسخ 17 Computer Aided Engineering Drawing .CAE Lab 2012 / 12 / 2 PAPER SIZE A4 ( 210 X 297 ) 18 Computer Aided Engineering Drawing .CAE Lab 2012 / 12 / 2 Title Block 19 Computer Aided Engineering Drawing .CAE Lab 2012 / 12 / 2 Saving Drawings In Class Ex1 20 Computer Aided Engineering Drawing .CAE Lab 2012 / 12 / 2 Home Work Multi solid lines and hidden lines with the title block 21 Computer Aided Engineering Drawing .CAE Lab 2012 / 12 / 2 THANK YOU 22 Computer Aided Engineering Drawing .CAE Lab 2012 / 12 / 2
