Section D: Testing yourself
• Part A Speaking
• Here are some pictures showing different ways of relaxing
in your spare time. Now, please discuss in groups of four
the good points and bad points of each of these activities.
Then, discuss this topic further and see if you can agree on
which types of activities you feel are the most and the least
worthwhile. During the discussion you may disagree with
each other, but please remember to disagree politely. One
student from each group will have to give a brief report to
the rest of the class about your agreement 8 minutes later.
• Advice: Leave Part B to student teachers as time does not
permit. Since Section C is not easy to use properly at this
stage, student teachers can try to simplify the first part of
Section C for the EANLIC Night and forget the second
part of Word Stars.
Different ways of relaxing
in your spare time
•
Topic for Noon Chat/Afternoon Chat
• Talk about your own hobbies with your
friends and try to seek advice from them on
the following issues:
• 1) Do you have too many or too few
hobbies? Do you need to learn to do more
things or put more control on your hobbies?
• 2) Are your hobbies healthy? Or when are
they worthwhile and when are they not?
Assignment
• Please recite the conversation in Section A,
paying special attention to the expressions
to disagree politely. It may be recited in
groups of three, each playing a role. The
assignment will be checked at the EANLIC

That’s all for today!
Thank you!
