Function
This mask was used by
the Fang tribe to pass
judgement on members
of the tribe that had
committed a crime .
Style
This mask clearly
represents a human face
in a very bold and
simplistic style.
Task
On an A3 page sketch out your mask in the
centre
At the top of the page use bold text to include
the name of the tribe and the function of the
mask. Also the area of Africa where the tribe
exists.
On one side of your mask write the title STYLE
and on the other side write FUNCTION. Now
come up with as many relevant words as you
can under these headings.
Your tribal word map should be decorated with
African design.
