Planning
Long-term
 Planning that occurs at the annual troop program
planning conference.
 Determine what the troop will be doing for the next 12
months
Short-term
 Planning that occurs monthly during PLC
 By reviewing the annual program plan and filling in
the details, troop leaders can finalize details of the
troop meetings and activates for the coming month.

troop activities for the coming year.

 Develop troop goals
• Examples – 11 monthly campouts, 2 merit badge camps,
summer camp, camporee, backpacking, WinterBlast
 Select the major events
• Examples - Camporee, Summer Camp, High Adventure
 Select the program features
• Example - canoeing, climbing, fishing, First Aid, Citizenship…
 Fill out Troop calendar
• Board of Reviews, Courts of Honor, Webelos Crossovers,
Scout Sunday, Merit Badge opportunities, OA Events, etc
