Juan Ponce de Leon

A Spanish kid
• Juan Ponce de Leon
was born in 1460. As
a child Juan was born
in Spain and that is
where his journey
begins.
From start to finish
• In 1512 Juan was
sent by his king to
start his fantasy trip to
find the fountain of
youth.
• In 1559 Juan came
back from the new
world struck by an
arrow and later on
died. Not completing
his journey.
Just a legend
• The reason for his
exploration was to live
for ever by drinking
from the fountain of
youth. It is said that
the fountain has
powers of life.
What happened next?
• On the exploration Juan killed a lot of
Indians trying to make them tell the truth.
• At each village an Indian would tell them
where they could find the fountain sending
them up north.
• Do you think they told the truth?
The Last Straw
• While heading up north Juan finally
stopped and asked another tribe for
directions. After the Indians say the same
thing as the other tribes Juan got so angry
that he told his men to destroy the village.
After learning that the fountain was just a
legend Juan made another fountain to
represent the real one.
The Big Fight
• While traveling down
the Atlantic side of
Florida, Juan was
ambushed by Indians.
As the fight went on
for about an hour,
Juan was finally
struck by an arrow,
bleeding nonstop then
Juan was dead.
The first founder
• Knowing Juan was a
bad man we do have
to give him credit for
finding our home
state, FLORIDA!!!!
