“Am I My Brother’s Keeper?”
Genesis 4:9
“Therefore, whatever you want men to do to you, do
also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets.”
(Matthew 7:12)
“Jesus said to him, ‘You shall love the LORD your
God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all
your mind. This is the first and great commandment.
And the second is like it: You shall love your
neighbor as yourself.’” (Matthew 22:37-39)
WHO Is My Brother?
Alien Sinners – Luke 10:25-37
Fellow Christians – Jas. 5:19-20
All – Gal. 6:10
“Therefore, as we have opportunity, let
us do good to all, especially to those
who are of the household of faith.”
My Treatment of My Brother
I AM:
 Not to injure him (1 John 3:15)
 Not to speak evil of him (Jas. 4:11)
 Not to lie against him (Eph. 4:25)
 Not to steal from or defraud him (Eph. 4:28)
 Not to be a wrong influence on him (Rom. 14:21)
 Not to meddle in his personal affairs (1 Pet. 4:15)
 To love him (1 Pet. 1:22; Rom. 13:10; 1 Pet. 4:8)
 To teach & admonish him (Heb. 10:24; 1 Thess. 5:11;
Rom. 15:14; Jas. 5:19-20)
 To discipline him (2 Thess. 3:14-15; 1 Cor. 5:5-6)
Why Do We Hesitate Confronting
Our Brother?
Sins of our own that are not
corrected (Matt. 7:1-5)
Indifference (1 Cor. 5:2; Rev. 3:16-17)
Spirit of our age (non-confrontational,
tolerant)
Fear of how he might react (Acts 7:54;
Acts 14:19)
How Should I Approach My
Brother?
Spirit of gentleness (Gal. 6:1)
Remembering my own sins that had to
be corrected (Rom. 3:23)
Having taken care of my sins properly
(Matt. 7:15)
As I would want to be approached
(Matt. 7:12)
What Is To Be My Attitude If
Approached?
Listen & weigh things presented
Thanks for showing concern
Count brother as a true friend
If convinced of sin:
Behave accordingly (Lk. 22:60-62)
Godly sorrow (2 Sam. 7:9)
Confession & prayer (1 John 1:9)
Repentance & prayer (Acts 8:22-24)
