 Eating shark fin soup in the marriage was
concerned as the way of getting shark fin is
rather cruel.
People started to concern about :
Is it really necessary to eat the shark fin in the
wedding banquets?

Importance of the sharks in the Eco-system
• Sharks – play an important role in the food chain.
• Help preventing the spread of diseases by eating some dead bodies.

 How serious is the problem?
• Hong Kong is the biggest shark fin importing city, it had imported
about 9000 tons of shark fin in 2009.
• The number of sharks hunted for their fins reaches 89 millions

 Aim : To know people’s attitude towards eating sharks
fins soup in the wedding banquets
 To find out that whether eating shark fin soup is still

 People do not care about the cultural meaning of

problem is more important than showing off.
 People think that shark fins can be
replaced by other food.
How can we strike a balance between
traditional cultural practice and
conserving the environment?
Replace shark fin with vermicelli (粉絲)
Shark fins don’t have taste at all. All its
taste depends on the soup. Therefore,
using glass noodle can have the same flavor
with the shark fin.
Vermicelli has a high nutritional value. It
also facilitates digestion.
