• To understand how to use the puppet warp tool to edit photographs
All students will use the puppet warp tool to make a sad person look happy
Most students will create an inspirational poster with their image
Some students will create realistic changes that don’t look edited.

We are going to use a tool called “Puppet warp” to warp images. This task also involves
being able to select appropriate images, and being able to create professional edited
images.

Puppet warp
• The puppet warp tool takes an existing photograph of a person or animal,
and allows you to move the position of the limbs like a puppet.
• It can be used on other images too, to change the angle of an object.

Task 1: Mannequin
• Go to Common K>ICT>PHOTOSHOP
• Open the image called Mannequin

• EDIT>PUPPET WARP
• Click on the joints of the mannequin. The
more points you put, the easier the image
will be to distort

Task 2: Test out your skills
• Open the file YMCA
• Edit the mannequins to do the YMCA moves.

Task 3: Puppet warping faces
• It’s not only limbs you can change,
you can also alter the expressions
on people’s faces.
• Open the file “Face”
• You can change the woman's
expression by putting the points
around her face.

Task 4: Selecting your own image
• Google “human frown face” or something similar to find an image of someone
looking grumpy.
• Your challenge is to use the Puppet Warp took to get the face to look happy.
• Level 4 – Choose an image and apply puppet warp
• Level 5 – Image changes expression but doesn’t look realistic
• Level 6 - Image changes expression and looks realistic, but you can tell it’s
been edited
• Level 7 – Cannot tell the image has been “photoshopped”

for your poster. Ensure it has a
positive message
