Course Details: A-Level Mathematics
Choice to make:
Exams:
Time Allocation:
Statistics or Mechanics
Y12 – Pure Maths (C1, C2) and Optional unit (S1 or M1)
Y13 – Pure Maths (C3, C4) and Optional unit (S2 or M2)
All exams are 1 hour 30 and you may use a calculator in all but C1
5 hours per week (plus homework!)

None – you will complete Statistics and Mechanics units
Y12 – Pure Maths (C1, C2, C3 & C4) and Applied (S1 & M1)
Y13 – Pure Maths (FP1 & FP2) and Applied (S2, S3, M2, M3)
All exams are 1 hour 30 and you may use a calculator in all but C1
8 hours per week in Y12, 7 hours per week in Y13 (plus homework!)

What should I do now?
Think carefully about your option choices,
Think about what this might lead to:
- look at some University websites,
- what are the entry requirements,
- are there any preferred combinations of subjects?
Talk to your maths teachers,
Talk to some of the current sixth form students,
Mathematics is a very demanding course, make sure that you are the
hardworking, enthusiastic type of student that is going to be successful!

Why should I study Maths at High Storrs?

In Y13, we have 6 students studying Further Maths and 29 students studying Maths
In Y12, we have 18 students studying Further Maths and 56 students studying Maths
Results:
– 99% pass rate over the last 5 years,
– 2014 Results: 90% grades A*-C at A-Level and 80% A*-B at Further Maths!

– We’ve invested heavily in the MLE and purchased online textbooks for all modules,
– All past papers, revision materials and much more on class sites.
