Simulated Gravity BY SEAN “N-GRAV” DALY AND MIKE BROUGHTON What is it? Simulated Gravity, is the generation of a gravitational force, artificially through engineering a specific way of generating the force. That means that Simulated Gravity is just a way of making a gravitational force, in an area where there is not one. Where Can It Be Seen In future there will be space stations, and in order for those to habit people to live in, through a centrifugal force, the simulated gravity would allow humans to live normally in space. Simulated Gravity On Earth, everyone experiences the force 1G on the surface G is a g force, which is the force of gravity When flying and on other things like roller coasters, the force of gravity increases on you Simulated gravity for the future will try to generate the 1 G force, so people can live regularly. In the book, it is demonstrated through a bike tire that is spinning to create a force 1 G for the lady bugs, so that they feel as if nothing has changed Star Trek/Star Wars Simulated gravity can be seen by these Sci-Fi movies, in which they are able to ride these ships and live in space stations without the feeling of weightlessness, which through simulated gravity they are able to remain anchored to the floors. Review Question Why would orbiting space stations that simulate gravity likely be large structures? They would be large structures because mass is what causes an attraction to each other, we are attracted to the Earth because it is very large and is spinning, and thus we have the generation of gravity. So in the future, a large mass that is spinning will be able to generate something close to what the Earth generates and it will be able for us live as if nothing has changed because there is a force relative to that of the one from Earth. In simpler words, it is easier to generate a force of 1G with a large mass because it has a strong pull on us, and when it spins it greaters the force, and that is what gravity is, that is what a g force is.
