Publishing of electoral rolls is a key process that commitment to hold regular, free and fair elections. These elections determine the composition of the government, the conduct of elections in India. The Indian membership of the two houses of parliament, the state and union territory legislative assemblies, and the Presidency and for voting. Any person who is a citizen of India and above 18 years of age is eligible to enroll as a voter in the electoral rolls. It is the responsibility of the eligible voters to enroll their names. Normally, voter registrations are allowed latest one week prior to the last date for nomination of candidates.

1.Preparation of voter 's list

In a democratic election, the list of those who are eligible to vote is prepared much before the election and given to everyone. this list is officially called the Electoral Roll and is commonly known as the Voter 's list.

The only difference is that in order to be a candidate the minimum age is 25 while it is only 18 years for being a voter.

The final stage of an election is the day when the voter 's cast or "poll" their vote. Every person whose name is on the voters list can go to a nearby "polling booth" situated usually in a local school or a govt. office.
