probably evolved on the island of New Guinea

The birds of paradise have a crow-like
body shape, with strong feet and bill. However,
some species do not have this basic pattern.
For example, the sicklebills have evolved a long,
curved beak, to probe for insects in thick moss
and tree bark.
The birds build their nests in forks of
trees, using leaves, twigs and other plant
materials.The nests are cup-shaped. Females
lay one or two eggs and the eggs will hatch
between 17 and 21 days. The young birds
remain in the nest for 17 – 30 days.
