‘The Seven Ages’
Jaques,
‘As You Like It’.
The poet compares this world to a stage
of a theatre and all its men and women to
actor and actresses.
They take birth,play seven different roles
and die.
The seven stages of man’s life are:First stage- an infant
Second stageschool boy
Third stage- lover
Fourth stagesoldier
Fiftg stagejustice
Sixth stage-old ‘pantaloon’
Seventh stage - second childishness
RHYMING SCHEME
The poem is written in free verse ;so it has no
rhyming scheme.
