Telling Time on the Hour
On a clock, the short hand tells the hour and the long hand tells the minutes.
When the minute hand is on the 12, the time is said to be o’clock.
The hour hand is on the 2, and the minute hand is on the 12.
The time shown is 2 o’clock or 2:00.

Telling Time on the Half Hour
