CAN YOU NAME THESE PEOPLE? They are both musicians that are “household” names, meaning that many people know who they are! HAVE YOU USED THESE GADGETS? These forms of technology are popular and used all over the world! ANDY WARHOL WAS INSPIRED BY THE PEOPLE THAT WERE POPULAR WHEN HE WAS ALIVE. LIKE THESE TWO: Marilyn Monroe Elvis Presley HE WAS MOST INSPIRED BY IMAGES THAT WERE FREE TO THE PUBLIC. Meaning the images are mass-produced: photos found in a magazine or book that anyone can look at, taken by a professional photographer. HERE IS AN EXAMPLE OF A PHOTO TAKEN BY A PROFESSIONAL PHOTOGRAPHER THAT WAS MASSEDPRODUCED. This is Marilyn Monroe Again. HERE IS WARHOL’S SILK SCREEN PRINTS OF THIS SAME IMAGE: SILK SCREEN PRINT • Warhol creates an image using the silk screen technique. • A silkscreen print is very much like a photographic print • Use INK to create the image- NOT PAINT NOW THAT WE KNOW A LITTLE ABOUT THE MEDIA WARHOL USES… …WE CAN ANALYZE HIS WORK! Look at this work of art: Take a minute to look at the image, then go to the next slide Warhol uses COLOR in his work, but not in a traditional way. He does not relate the color to an emotion. The color is just color. BUT he does choose a COLOR SCHEME. Warhol uses SHAPES to create the subjects in the composition. What SHAPES can you see? Warhol uses LINES to show movement in the piece. The grass looks like it is moving in the wind. REVIEW: • Warhol uses COLOR but not in a normal way.
