CONJUNCTIONS COORDINATING SUBORDINATING CONJUNCTIONS CONJUNCTIONS A subordinating conjunction is a word which joins together a dependent clause and an independent clause. A dependent clause- It was raining and hence I took my umbrella. The subordinate conjunction has two functions FUNCTION 1: It gives a change between the two ideas in the sentence.
