Writing and speaking assignment /
Guided Practice
Write a speech titled, “The Qualities of a Hero.”
Use examples from your reading to support
your main ideas.
The Qualities of a Hero
Heroes are people who overcome obstacles and help society. Benjamin
Banneker helped society by inventing a clock, writing an almanac, and
surveying the land that later became the US Capital. Marie Curie opened a
new field of medicine called radiology that treated cancer and other diseases.
Both of these people helped make society a better place which makes them
heroes. One day I hope to make a difference in society by helping out or
inventing something that will benefit or change the world for the better.
