En Plein Air- French for “in the open air.” Sketching or painting outdoors, as opposed to in a studio 3. Still life- a painting or drawing of flowers, fruit, or other assorted objects 4. Portrait- a picture of a person 5. Tight brush stroke- when the brushstrokes on a painting are not visible, giving the art a polished look 6. Loose brush stroke- when specific strokes from a brush are visible on a painting Why learn about Impressionism?
