Eph. 6:10-12; Finally, my brethren, be strong in
the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on
the whole armor of God, that you may be able to
stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do
not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against
principalities, against powers, against the rulers of
the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of

The word used in Eph. 6:17 is “MACHAIRA”
meaning “small sword, knife, dagger”
When the devil attacks with his lies and
temptation, we counterattack with the Sword
of the Spirit – the Word of God.
Your words can become a weapon that cuts
through the attack of the enemy, to pierce and
tear and shred apart his lies.
GRAFE – The “Scriptures”

inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine,
for reproof, for correction, for instruction in
righteousness
LOGOS – The “message” of the Scriptures

word of God, which also effectively works in you
who believe.

RHEMA means utterance, a word spoken or
declared with assurance
RHEMA is the declaration of the LOGOS that you
received from the GRAFE
RHEMA – The Word of God “declared”
• LOGOS becomes RHEMA (The Sword of the Spirit)
when you have such conviction, faith and
assurance about the Word of God that you
declare it with authority !
Matthew 4:1-10 ; Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit
into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. 2 And
when He had fasted forty days and forty nights,
afterward He was hungry. 3 Now when the tempter
came to Him, he said, "If You are the Son of God,
command that these stones become bread." 4 But He
answered and said, "It is written, 'MAN SHALL NOT LIVE
BY BREAD ALONE, BUT BY EVERY WORD THAT PROCEEDS

The RHEMA Word must be living & active in you

• Heb 4:12; For the word of God is living and

piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and
of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the
thoughts and intents of the heart.
If you’re going to be effective with the sword –
you first have to let it to “cut” you!
The RHEMA Word must flow from faith
• Hebrews 4:2; …the word which they heard did not

profit them, not being mixed with faith …
1Thess. 2:13; …the word of God …effectively
works in you who believe.
Mark 11:24; … whatever things you ask when you
pray, believe that you receive them, and you will
have them.

• Heb. 11:3; By faith we understand that the worlds

things which are seen were not made of things

Isa 55:11; My word …shall not return to Me void,
But it shall accomplish what I please, And it shall
prosper in the thing for which I sent it.

trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all
the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any

The RHEMA Word must be wielded in prayer
