The Promise of a New Beginning Part 2 The Promise of a New Beginning • Each sunrise is the dawning of a new day. • Each birthday is full of opportunity and the chance to make dreams come true. • A seed planted is the promise of a new beginning. Planting First Fruits is the promise of a new beginning. 1 Samuel 1:8–11 Then Elkanah her husband said to her, “Hannah, why do you weep and why do you not eat and why is your heart sad? Am I not better to you than ten sons?” Then Hannah rose after eating and drinking in Shiloh. Now Eli the priest was sitting on the seat by the doorpost of the temple of the LORD. 1 Samuel 1:8–11 She, greatly distressed, prayed to the LORD and wept bitterly. 11 She made a vow and said, “O LORD of hosts, if You will indeed look on the affliction of Your maidservant and remember me, and not forget Your maidservant, but will give Your maidservant a son, then I will give him to the LORD all the days of his life, and a razor shall never come on his head.” Hannah • Hannah refused to settle for less than the best! • Hannah refused to be offended. • Hannah promised God a first fruit that she did not have. • Hannah kept her vow (covenant) to the Lord. Hannah’s Song (1 Samuel 2:5) “Those who were full hire themselves out for bread, But those who were hungry cease to hunger. Even the barren gives birth to seven, But she who has many children languishes.” What are you speaking? The Promise Fulfilled 1 Samuel 2:20–21 “Then Eli would bless Elkanah and his wife and say, “May the LORD give you children from this woman in place of the one she dedicated to the LORD.” And they went to their own home. The LORD visited Hannah; and she conceived and gave birth to three sons and two daughters. And the boy Samuel grew before the LORD.” The Promise Fulfilled • To experience a new beginning, you must IDENTIFY your passion. • To experience a new beginning, you must AGREE on what you will give to God. • To experience a new beginning, you must KEEP your promise to God. Can you imagine… • What it will be like when God hears our prayers, sees our sacrifice and answers our petitions? • What will it feel like, when God gives you the breakthrough? • Whose life will be affected when God answers your prayer? Can you imagine… What will you do differently when your permanent situation becomes temporary?
