They are often 1-4 minute samples of reading, math and writing skills. CBMs are a GENERAL OUTCOME MEASURES Like taking a temperatureOr getting a blood pressure Or standing on a scale These are all QUICK measures that may signal the need for more detailed diagnostic measures. We don’t need MRIs for all students! Curriculum Based Measurements • • • • • • • PLUS Quick (more time to instruct) Multiple Forms-same measure, same difficulty Useful as a Screener & PM Graphically monitors progress over time Paraprofessionals can be trained to administer Valid/Reliable Standardized DELTA • • • Diagnostic information is limited. Some districts use alone for determination of intervention/tiers. Limited usefulness in determining specific instructional strategies.
