Melkan Tabanlıoğlu Melkan Gürsel Tabanlıoğlu studied architecture at Istanbul Technical University. After gratuating in 1993 she attented Polytechnic University of Metropolitan Catalonia for her Master of Architecture. She joined Tabanlioğlu Architects in 1995 as partner of the company. In addition to several architectural prizes, recently she has been selected as one of the “Europe 40 under 40” for 2008. Recent Tabanlıoğlu works comprise a wide range of building types including Levent Loft & Loft Gardens, Kanyon, Sapphire Tower, Zorlu Center, Galataport, Istanbul Modern, Media Center for CNN Turk and Channel D, printing facilities and office buildings for Dogan Media Group such as DMC Ankara; ESAS HQ, Ziraat Bank; Zorlu Levent; Palace of Peace, Astana Arena, Media Center and, Fitness Center in Kazakhstan; Tripoli Congress Center, Sirte Lounge in Libya, Congress Center in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea; Hotel Rixos Libertas in Dubrovnik; Avcılar E5, Marmara Forum and M1Meydan, Asmacatı in Balçova; industrial buildings like Tunacelik and Nova factories; and renovation projects such as Beyazıt Library from the 16th Century, the memorable Tarabya Hotel and Hayati Tabanlıoğlu’s Ataturk Cultural Center. Melkan is also an international member of The American Institute of Architects, the “AIA”. Tabanlıoğlu has been awarded several international and national prizes; the company ranks 79th in “BD World Architecture” top 100 list of year 2009.
