Purpose:
1.To explain the process for selecting option
choices at Hitchin Girls’ School.
2.To outline the types of qualification on offer
for students at Key Stage 4.
3.To give students an opportunity to discuss
courses with appropriate staff.

This route may involve studying for half a
day at an alternative venue.

North Hertfordshire College support a work
related course which includes Level 1 entry
courses in Hair, Beauty, Automotives and
Construction.

Some combinations are problematic due to
timetabling
The English Baccalaureate



The current Education Minister is
encouraging schools to offer a particular
combination of GCSE’s entitled the E
BAC.
This means in addition to the core,
students need to select either History or
Geography.
Students also need to pass a Foreign
Language at grade A*-C.
