Attended national and international network meetings and workshops to promote project activities and share experiences. © Plan 5 2011 Progress of Activities • Prepared text and published the quarterly AcSearch Newsletter, Monthly Updates on CLTS and San-Mark and case stories on good practices of CLTS. • Facilitated SLTS in schools and construction of male and female students’ latrines in Schools. • Facilitated cooperation and created cross learning on CLTS to share experiences with stakeholders ( like UNICEF and NGOs like SNV, VITA etc.). © Plan 6 2011 Progress of Activities • Hosted the Annual Plan African CLTS Project Review Meeting and facilitated the organization of the workshop. • Conducted an assessment to document the SLTS pilot initiative taken to scale up school sanitation and CLTS. • Facilitated establishment of community-managed sanitation marketing centre. © Plan 7 High Lights-Innovations that we are proud of: 1. Triggering a kebele(the smallest Administrative Unit) in one day ie many villages by clustering them into groups of villages. 2. Involving schools fo triggering and monitoring. 3. Organizing Natural Leaders to establish a sanitation centre in SNN PU. 4. Using a local game to involve children to promote H&S activities in their villages. © Plan 8 Low Lights 1. Budget shortage due to high Inflation in the country. As a result we were not able to procure a vehicle approved in the project proposal. 2. Lack of continuous follow up by government staff after triggering. 3. Abscense of water supply in schools to promote effective sanitation and hygiene activities. © Plan 9 Actions taken to Address challenges 1. The budget shortage discussed with the donor and there was a field visit to the project site by the donor. Additional budget requested. 2. Continuous contact with government staff and organization of review meetings and preparation of joint action plans. 3. Integrating WASH activities. © Plan 10 Lessons Learned 1. CLTS needs continuous close follow up and monitoring after triggering. 2. Needs budget and logistical support for the follow up and conducting review meetings etc. 3. Needs permanent staff assigned to CLTS implementation. 4.
