 Choice – 8 subjects, some with new titles, but
continuity with S1, S2.
 Choice – but still broad education, still active
learning, still Skills for 21st century.

outcomes now mainly fourth level.

Senior Phase
 what we used to call S4/5/6.
 years of National Qualifications.
 S4 pupils choose 7 subjects, 4 periods per week.
 Nat 3 or Nat 4 or Nat 5 in each subject
 S5 and S6 pupils choose 5 subjects, 6 periods per week.
 Nat 5 or Higher or Advanced Higher in each subject.
National Qualifications
 Nat 3 equivalent to Foundation level, assessed in
school
 Nat 4 equivalent to General level and Int 1, assessed in
school
 Nat 5 equivalent to Credit level and Int 2, assessed by
national exam
 Higher remains, assessed by national exam
 Advanced Higher remains, assessed by national exam
