Consider the student’s desire to be involved in sports and extracurricular activities. There are special learning opportunities and rewards for GATE students. Advice from the Counselor This is high school, not your old middle school. Understand quickly that you must adapt to a new and tougher system. Extra Credit does not exist—grades are based on the work you do every day in class Late Work: policies between teachers vary, some take late work with penalties and some take NO late work at all—KNOW the policies of your teachers and expect that they will hold you to them In order to be competitive for college acceptance, you must consistently challenge yourself for four years of high school. Attendance is vital to your success. Advice from Current Students DON’T PROCRASTINATE!!!! ASK FOR HELP DO ALL YOUR WORK Expectations (continued) The Centennial High GATE/Honors/AP Program is committed to the highest level of ethical standards.
