Australian Multicultural Advisory Council • Council officially launched by the Minister in December 2008. Reappointed for its 2nd term in June 2010 • ‘Its second-term priorities include providing the government with advice on how best to support migrant settlement in rural and regional locations, and areas with employment opportunities". • • • Statement on cultural diversity policy – The People of Australia. Qld member-Gail Ker Provides independent advice to the Minister and Parliamentary Secretary regarding: – social cohesion issues relating to Australia’s cultural and religious diversity – overcoming intolerance and racism in Australia – communicating the social and economic benefits of Australia’s cultural diversity to the broad community – issues relating to the social and civic participation of migrants in Australian society.
