SNOMED CT is an acronym
Systematized* Nomenclature of Medicine
Clinical Terms
The point of SNOMED CT is to record clinical
data electronically & consistently in order to
improve patient care
From April 2015 it will be used in all electronic
care records in NHS England *
this is an internationally agreed term which uses the US English spelling

The advantages of SNOMED CT are that it will
provide data that can be understood and used
across systems and across professions by all
involved in the service user’s journey
