MPES Overview
Rates school-level administrators on a 1-4 scale:
• Two schoolwide goals - state assessments in
language arts and mathematics (for CTE
directors, goals are set based on Year 1
students and Year 2 students)
• Two organizational goals - leading/lagging
indicators of school success (attendance,
truancy, discipline, AP/dual credit, etc.)
• Circle Survey or MDE-approved alternative

Goals for Today
1. How to complete the Summative Assessment
2. How to set Professional Growth Goals
3. How to prepare for the 2014-2015 MPES cycle
6
I. Summative Assessment Conference
Reminder - Supervisors must meet with MPES
participants after they have received end-ofyear student achievement data from the MDE.
7
I. Summative Assessment Conference, Cont.
Supervisors should meet with MPES participants
by August 31 to:
• Rate participants’ performance on their
student learning and organizational goals
(refer to the MPES goal-setting forms)
• Provide MPES participants with an MPES
Summative Assessment Score
8
I. Summative Assessment Conference, Cont.
Summative Assessment Scores consist of:
• ELA and Math goal ratings
• Organizational goal ratings
• Circle Survey results (or alternative tool used by
district)
Supervisors will rate an administrator’s
performance on each goal using Form 4 (available
in Canvas or on the MDE’s website), based on the
previously determined goal quantifications set in
Forms 2A-C.
9
II. Inputting Summative Assessment Scores
Supervisors of record (e.g., superintendent, the
superintendent’s designee, a head principal
evaluating an assistant principal, etc.) should
provide Form 4 data to the superintendent.
To report data to MDE, superintendents should
access the MPES file located in their MDE
SharePoint folder:
• Fastest, easiest way to report MPES data
• Same Excel file used to report teacher evaluation
data
10
II. Inputting Summative Assessment Scores, Cont.
Superintendents only should report finalized
MPES data to the MDE to ensure:
• Accuracy
• Confidentiality
• His or her district’s compliance with federal
requirements
11
II. Inputting Summative Assessment Scores, Cont.
Step 1. Download the Excel file from SharePoint, and click on the “Data”
tab to enter information from the MPES Goal Setting Forms (2A-C).
12
II. Inputting Summative Assessment Scores, Cont.
Step 2. Click on the “Scores” tab and enter information using the

first and second tabs, and then upload your saved Excel file back into
SharePoint.

II. Inputting Summative Assessment Scores, Cont.
Important Notes:
1. MPES participants’ completed Form 4
documents should be printed/filed in their
central office’s personnel records.
2. It is NOT necessary for MPES participants to
upload Form 4 in Canvas. The MDE will
extract all necessary data directly from
SharePoint.
15
II. Inputting Summative Assessment Scores, Cont.
Now let’s take a look at the Excel file and then
address any questions you may have about
reporting data.
16
III. Professional Growth Goals Conference
• The Professional Growth Goals Conference
should take place by August 31. It may be
combined with the Summative Assessment
Conference.
• The MPES participant and supervisor should
identify two areas for professional
development/learning based on the Circle
Survey and other evidence.
17
III. Professional Growth Goals Conference, Cont.
• Professional Growth Goals are NOT a weighted
component of the MPES at this time and are
to be overseen at the district level.
• The Professional Growth Goals Form should
be filed in the MPES participant’s personnel
file in the district’s central office.
• The Professional Growth Goals Form does
NOT have to be uploaded in Canvas.
18
III. Professional Growth Goals Conference, Cont.
The PGG Form will be automatically emailed to
all of today’s webinar participants and also
made available on the MDE’s website.

III. Professional Growth Goals Conference, Cont.
Now let’s take a look at the PGG Form and then
address any questions you may have about it.

• All school-level administrators (head
principals, CTE directors, alternative school
