The task must be linked into the school’s improvement priorities and produce demonstrable positive impact and sustainable change.’ Source: NPQML Assessment Handbook. NPQH Leadership Curriculum Briefing Assessment Task NPQSL The final assessment process comprises one assessed task in which you lead, for an extended period, on a school improvement priority across your school. The task, which needs to be achievable within a 12 month period, must produce demonstrable positive impact and sustainable change. The school improvement priority you select should be one that is sufficiently ambitious and challenging to enable you to demonstrate: 1. your focus upon improving teaching and learning and positive outcomes for pupils 2. your development as a leader, and 3. all nine competencies tested in the task. NPQH Leadership Curriculum Briefing Choosing an appropriate improvement piece of leadership work 1. Will the improvement area address a real issue that is a concern or challenge for your school? 2. Does the improvement area address one of the priorities identified in the school development plan or the development plan for an area of the school? 3. Is the improvement area integral to your current responsibilities? 4. Will the improvement area directly improve outcomes for children and young people? 5. Will the improvement area provide opportunities for you to practise and gather evidence of your leadership skills?
