DEDICATION & PASSION! DESIGN & BEAUTY! CARBON NEGATIVE PRODUCTS! VIRAL GROWTH AMBITION! UNIQUE R&D APPROACH! InnoVentum’s R&D platform draws on www.iknow-who.com with a long Track-Record in Extreme Innovation Challenges This Unique R&D Approach is applied to Develop Wooden Structures and Hybrid Solutions More than 6000 engineering hours were put in the development of InnoVentum wooden towers, resulting in the Dali XII – used as a base for the Dali PowerTower All designs have been tested in 1:10 scale prototypes for design validation The Dali XII tower was tested in 2010 full scale in-house for the measurement of all critical parameters and the initial patent application was submitted The Dali XII tower was further tested on site (on the windiest island in Sweden – Öland) After 12 months of testing, a second generation of the Dali XII was developed resulting in an international patent application (PCT) In 2013, the Dali Tower was extended into a Dali PowerTower and the Giraffe – hybrid solutions, combining wind and solar energies We leverage increasing returns on resources – Delivering 5 times more energy per unit of material Images System Dali Performance Dalifant Enercon 2MW E-70 E4 Enercon 3MW E-82 E3 1 including manufacturing, building, installing maintaining the sites foundation x3 3 Screw foundation x8 4 Concrete foundation volume 350m3 – density 2500 kg/m3 5 Concrete foundation volume 500m3 – density 2500 kg/m3 2 Screw Rated Power Rotor Diameter 3,5 kW 4 m 11 kW 13 m 2 300 kW 71 m 3 000 kW 82 m Tower Type & Height Wood 12 m Wood 20 m Concrete 90 m Concrete 138 m Year ly Production 6 m/s, kWh 7 736 Total Weight RATIO Tower: 0,70 T Nacelle: 0,17 T Rotor: 0,015 T Foundation2: 0,06 T Energy x 5,1 Power x 3 Weight x 4 = Increasing Return on Materials Total: 0,945 T 39 600 Tower: 2,85 T Nacelle: 0,7 T Rotor: 0,2 T Foundation3: 0,2 T Total 3,95 T 3 800 000 Tower: 680 T Nacelle: 65 T Rotor: 43 T Foundation4: 875 T 4 900 000 Tower: 1180 T Nacelle: 80 T Rotor: 55 T Foundation4: 1 250 T Total 1 663 T Total 2 565 T Dalifant: 10,6 Wh per kilo of material used Enercon: 1,9 Wh per kilo of material used Energy x 1,2 Power x 1,3 Weight x 1,5 = Decreasing return on Materials Six months after starting R&D, the Giraffe had already reached Spectacular Venues (I) OFFGRID DECENTRALIZED POWER STATION AT THE EUROVISION VENUE Powers lights, I; W, outlets for electronic devices. Hundreds of private individuals post their Giraffe pictures on Facebook – bringing renewable energy closer to the people! The Giraffe provides enough energy in a year for an evehicle to drive more than one tour around the world! EV owners in Malmö can park and charge for free! Bringing Renewable Energy to New Levels Stable Energy Production with Flat Energy Curve Day and Night, All Year Round Depending on choice of wind turbine, the Giraffe is able to produce 5 000 – 11 000 kWh per year even in countries with low solar radiation and moderate winds – providing power 24 hours a day, all year round. Power to the People in disaster recovery Restoring electricity to a disaster area is vital for this area to undertake urgent disaster recovery activities. After every disaster, it usually takes months to bring electric utilities in order so as to bring the grid back to life. During all those months, people of the Philippines are left without access to electricity. To recover from such a disaster, access to electricity source is vital for at least four areas: 1. Refrigeration: preservation of medicines, vaccines, food; 2. Water: pumping and making the water drinkable is impossible without electricity; 3. Telecom, using phone or internet: communication with families, rescue teams, Red Cross; 4. Light: the day should not be over when the sun goes down. Proposing a Sustainable Solution The Dali PowerTower by InnoVentum is a hybrid wind-solar energy station that is robust, easy to install, and made of renewable or recycled materials. It provides 4000-5000 kWh of green energy per year – day and night Each day 10 Dali PowerTowers will provide 130 kWh which is enough energy for: - 50 LED lights - 10 low consumption refrigerators - 10 laptops or 50 mobiles phones - HotSpots for 100-500 users - 1 High Volume atmospheric water generator providing 1100 litres of fresh water per day Why the Dali PowerTower? Continuous energy production hybrid wind-solar systems provide energy day and night. Easy logistics the wood is lightweight (compared to steel) and the construction is modular to reduce transport volume Typhoon- & earthquake-protected design the construction is robust and allows for easy disassembly if required. In collapsed position, the Dali PowerTower will be better protected against typhoons. Protection against xylophagous insects, larvas and termites will be required. No negative effect on the environment renewable energy is clean and use of wood makes the system “carbon negative”– the wood used to make the structure had captured at least 2 tons of CO2 before it took shape of the PowerTower AND it produces energy without causing any emissions of CO2 or pollutants. Energy Production: Hybrid Wind-Solar Systems for a Flatter and More Continuous Power Curve Wind and solar energy are highly complementary: wind energy is generated mostly during nights and colder months of the year, whereas solar energy is only generated during daytime, especially in summer "@F:;EI3K7@7D9KBDA6G5764K3:K4D;6I;@6 EA>3DBAI7DEF3F;A@:3E?G5:?AD77H7@XAIA8 energy production compared to pure wind or pure solar installations, thus solving the inevitable sinusoidal curve problem that is regarded as the only drawback of renewable energy. Such complementarity is the main principle utilised in a hybrid construction like the Dali PowerTower 900 6 solar panels Wind turbine Hybrid wind-‐solar energy producon 800 700 POWER TOWER (6 PANELS) 600 500 ANNUAL ENERGY YIELD (6 m/s): 5 730 kWh 400 300 200 100 0 Jan Feb Mar Apr May Jun All calculations made at Malmö latitude, average wind speed 6 m/s Jul Aug Sep Oct Nov Dec Transportable and Easy-to-Install Solution ,:7FAI7D67E;9@:3E477@?367FAABF;?;L7 EB357 78W5;7@F>A9;EF;5EI;F:3FAF3>B35=397 volume of 1,2 m3 No module is longer than 2 meters On-site-assembly based on clear manual Tower on EU Pallet All required bolts well-protected inside package Assembling the Tower The Intended Location for the First Dali PowerTower: Hills of Grace near Manila At present Children´s Mission Philippines – Hills of Grace Foundation is working within three major areas and a fourth area in development: Child Welfare: Malnutrition Center Open Heart Children´s Village Maternal and Child Health Program Youth Dental Care (in development) Educational Programs: - Pre school, Day Care & Elementary school. - Sponsorship Program for Pre & Elementary schools - High school and College - Skills Training Description of the First Dali PowerTower Installation Day I: Digging three 1 m3 holes for the foundation Fitting the template with the 12 threaded rods into the 3 holes to hold the 3 Dali PowerTower legs with perfect leveling Filling the holes with stones and concrete Day II: - Assembling the Dali legs - Bringing all pre-assembled parts to the top of the hill (only a small vehicle was able to climb the 120 meter high and very steep hill – many parts had to be carried by hand) - Erecting the Dali PowerTower (by hand-held tools – no crane) - Fitting the PV panels Day III: - Connecting the Dali PowerTower - Training locals how to operate the Dali PowerTower On average, three days* are required for the Dali PowerTower installation – ;@5>G6;@9EG8W5;7@FA@ F:7 job-training of locals to maintain the installation and handle further installations by themselves.
