Matthew 18:1-5
At that time the disciples came to
Jesus, saying, “Who then is greatest
in the kingdom of heaven?” Then
Jesus called a little child to Him, set
him in the midst of them, and said,
“Assuredly, I say to you, unless you
are converted and become as little
children, you will by no means enter
the kingdom of heaven. Therefore
whoever humbles himself as this
little child is the greatest in the
kingdom of heaven. Whoever
receives one little child like this in
My name receives Me.
“Behold, children are a heritage from the LORD, the fruit of the womb is a reward.”
Psalms 127:3
A Service of Blessing and Dedication
What is it?
A biblical responsibility to pray for,
teach and nurture our children.
Behold, children are a heritage
from the LORD, the fruit of the
womb is a reward.
Psalm 127:3
It is a trap for a person to
dedicate something rashly and
only later to consider his
vows.
Proverbs 20:25
“Behold, children are a heritage from the LORD, the fruit of the womb is a reward.”
Psalms 127:3

A Relationship with God
That if you confess with your
mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe
in your heart that God raised him
from the dead, you will be saved.
Romans 10:9
Those who accepted his message
were baptized, and about three
thousand were added to their
number that day.
Acts 2:41
“Behold, children are a heritage from the LORD, the fruit of the womb is a reward.”
Psalms 127:3

Child dedication is based on a
biblical precedent
Hannah dedicated Samuel
(1 Samuel 1:24-28)
Joseph & Mary dedicated Jesus
(Luke 2:21-24)
Consecration is the action of setting
something aside to be used by God.
“Behold, children are a heritage from the LORD, the fruit of the womb is a reward.”
Psalms 127:3

Affirmation
ALL: “We affirm that every child
is a gift from God. Each child is
a miracle of new life entrusted
to our care.”
“Behold, children are a heritage from the LORD, the fruit of the womb is a reward.”
Psalms 127:3

Prayer of Confession
ALL: “Our God and Father, we confess to
You and to one another that we, as people,
as parents and as family members, have
made mistakes which have hurt others and
which have hurt our relationship with You.
We have hurt You and others by what we
have done or omitted to do. We confess that
we are imperfect but we want to learn and
grow. Forgive us we pray; and free us from
our sin. Give us a fresh start and renew in
us again the grace and strength of your Holy
Spirit. We pray, in faith, through the name
of Jesus Christ your Son, our Saviour.
AMEN.”
