• Begin your report with a greeting to all who
have tuned in to watch your report.
– “Good morning, afternoon, evening”

Introduction
• Provide us with background information
– Who you are
– What network you are reporting from
– What day of the week it is/today’s date
* Some of this information may be provided during
your salutation. Just make sure it ends up
somewhere in your report.
Transition
• After introduction transition into the report
you will be covering:
– “The first story we will be covering…”
– “Breaking news…”
– “This just in…”
– “We begin our coverage tonight with…”
Reporting the News
• Provide us with the key information for your
report:
– Who
– What
– When
– Where
– Why
– How
Closing
• Make sure you don’t just stop at the end of
the report, say “good-bye” to your audience.

unfold…”
– “We will continue to bring your information as the

– Catch phrase
