The Invention of the Toothpaste
In May 1907 Ottomar Heinsius von Mayenburg
began with the production of the toothpaste. He
mixed tooth powder with gargle and essentail oils.
He thought it would be easier to use than tooth
powder when you brush your teeth. He sold
toothpaste in a metal tin, in contrast to porcelain
tin. In 1917 Ottomar Heinsius von Mayenburg had
a company with over 60 laboratory technicians.

Later he set up factories not only in
Germany but all over Europe and America,
where the toothpaste was produced in
tubes. The Chlorodont- toothpaste was
available till 1989.
