Basic Dehumidifier Training 3 Types of Dehumidifiers Standard Refrigerant – Temperature range 68OF - 90OF – How dry can it get the air? LGR Refrigerant – Temperature Range 33OF - 90OF+ – How dry can it get the air? Desiccant What does a refrigerant dehumidifier do? How does it do it? Let’s start with an air conditioner: This is how the evaporation cycle in an air conditioner or dehumidifier works: 1.The compressor compresses cool refrigerant gas, causing it to become hot, high-pressure gas (red in the diagram above). This is how the evaporation cycle in an air conditioner or dehumidifier works: 2.This gas runs in narrow tubes through coils dissipating or giving off its heat. When cooled it condenses to a liquid. (Going from bottom left to top left in diagram) This is how the evaporation cycle in an air conditioner or dehumidifier works: 3.The liquid refrigerant passes through an expansion valve. In the process it evaporates to become cold, low-pressure gas (light blue). This is how the evaporation cycle in an air conditioner or dehumidifier works: 4.This cold gas runs through a set of coils (light blue) that are cooled by the gas. Air passing over the cold coils is also cooled. Standard or Conventional Dehumidifier Capillary Tubes Standard Refrigerant Dehumidifier System Fan Evaporator Coils The cold side Condenser The warm side Compressor Standard or Conventional Refrigerant Dehumidifiers The DrizAir 1200 is the only standard/conventional refrigerant dehumidifier currently being sold for restoration. Disadvantages: •Limited temperature range •Small Capacity Advantages: •Inexpensive •Size: Height 32" Width 20" Depth 19.5" Use Weight 80 lb / 36 kg LGR Dehumidifiers What is LGR? Low Grain Refrigerant dehumidifiers They pre-cool the incoming air stream. LGR Dehumidification Equipment LGR Dehumidification Equipment There are two types of LGR dehumidifiers: Recuperative (Phoenix) Heat Pipe (Dri-Eaz) LGR Dehumidifier~Recuperative Wet air is pulled through the heat exchanger Air In This air is passed through the evaporator, where it is cooled. This cooling causes the moisture to condense from the air LGR Dehumidifier Air Cooled LGR Dehumidifier This air is then directed back through the heat exchanger, precooling the incoming wet air Air Pre-Cools Incoming Air LGR Dehumidifier This now slightly warmer air is directed through the condenser Air cools condenser making the air very warm LGR Dehumidifier Finally warm, dry air exhausts Air Exhausts Heat Pipe LGR Dehumidifier Heat Pipe : A pair of coils that sandwich the evaporator coil in order to pre-cool the incoming air stream. Heat Pipe LGR Dehumidifier The Heat Pipe is an independent charged refrigeration system without a compressor or capillary tubes GAS 800 500 LIQUID LGR Dehumidifier Heat Pipe vs. Recuperative Phoenix 200 MAX •Proven. •20516 Hours = 2 Years and 3 Months •2 Years and 3 Months = 854 Days •854 Days Total Usage •854 x $125.00 = $106,750.00 •On an Initial Investment of About $2000.00 Phoenix 200 MAX •Proven. •133 pints/day water removal @ AHAM •7.5 Amps •Multiple filter options •Value product for Phoenix •HAF (High Air Flow) filters are on all Dri-Eaz Dehumidifiers Phoenix 300 •176 pints/day water removal @ AHAM •12 amps •Most water removal available on a 15 amp circuit •Popular unit for General Contractors Dri-Eaz 2400 •146 pints/day water removal @ AHAM •11 Amps •HAF Filter – use 3-4 times Phoenix R 175 • Phoenix’s 1st Rotomolded design •92 pints @ AHAM @ 6.1 amps Phoenix R 175 • Phoenix’s 1st Rotomolded design • 92ppd @ AHAM @ 6.1 amps • Rugged Handle design Phoenix R 175 • Phoenix’s 1st Rotomolded design • 92ppd @ AHAM @ 6.1 amps • Rugged Handle design • Easy to operate control panel Phoenix R 175 • Phoenix’s 1st Rotomolded design • 92ppd @ AHAM @ 6.1 amps • Rugged Handle design • Easy to operate control panel • 12 inch wheels for easy transport Phoenix R 175 • Phoenix’s 1st Rotomolded design • 92ppd @ AHAM @ 6.1 amps • Rugged Handle design • Easy to operate control panel • 12 inch wheels for easy transport •Ductable inlet and exhaust Phoenix R 175 • Phoenix’s 1st Rotomolded design • 92ppd @ AHAM @ 6.1 amps • Rugged Handle design • Easy to operate control panel • 12 inch wheels for easy transport • Ductable inlet and exhaust • Standard 12x12x1 MERV 6 filters Phoenix R 175 • Phoenix’s 1st Rotomolded design • 92ppd @ AHAM @ 6.1 amps • Rugged Handle design • Easy to operate control panel • 12 inch wheels for easy transport • Ductable inlet and exhaust • Standard 12x12x1 MERV 6 filters • Convenient Cord and hose storage Phoenix R 175 • Phoenix’s 1st Rotomolded design • 92ppd @ AHAM @ 6.1 amps • Rugged Handle design • Easy to operate control panel • 12 inch wheels for easy transport • Ductable inlet and exhaust • Standard 12x12x1 MERV 6 filters • Convenient Cord Storage •Stackable Design V i r t u a l T r a i n i n g C e n t e r Phoenix 200 HT Bypass Technology Bypass allows 70% of the moisture laden air to pass over the heat exchanger. Air In Bypass Technology The remaining 30% goes behind the heat exchanger to cool the condenser. This allows the unit to operate in hotter environment. Air In The bypass can be turned off when used at normal temperatures. Ideal if used with TES or ETES.
