Start by twisting a loop…
Pull the yarn through to make…

Place the yarn on your hook and
snug up loosely.

Loop the yarn over your pinky
and point your pinky up….
Turn your palm away and bring
the yarn to the back of your hand.

Pinch the yarn tail between your
thumb and middle finger.
Hold the hook in your working
hand….

Move hook under yarn and wrap
it around the hook…
And pull the yarn through, creating a
series of loops, your foundation chain.

You now have a foundation chain. We will
begin to work single crochet stitches (sc)
Insert hook into the 2nd chain (ch)
from hook.

Yarn over by wrapping the yarn
around the hook…
And pull up a loop. There will
now be 2 loops on your hook.

Yarn over (yo),
Pull through both loops.
Basic Crochet
Continue by working into each
chain in the same way.

To work half-double crochet
(hdc), yo before inserting hook
into 3rd ch from hook
Yo and pull through all three
loops on hook

For double crochet (dc), yo, insert
hook into ch,
Yo, pull through 2 loops on
hook…
Basic Crochet
Then yo and pull through last 2
loops….
Dc completed!
Basic Crochet
For treble (tr), yo twice before
inserting hook into ch,
You now have 4 loops on hook,
Basic Crochet
Yo and work loops off in pairs,
Until you have worked them all
off. Treble completed!
