Very intense shaking leads to foam formation. First stirr thoroughly directly after mixing the formula and afterwards reduce with thinner Add 10-15% AQUA BODY 773 SPRAYING SOLVENT Application 3 Spray gun type: HVLP Spray gun nozzle: 1.2-1.3 mm Application pressure: 1.7-2.2 bar Application metallic colors: Medium coat - Full coat – Drop coat (Mist) Application solid colors: Medium coat - Full coat If necessary apply additional mist for good coverage Between 1st coat – 2nd coat: Flash off till matt Prior to clearcoat application: Flash off until completely matt ~20 minutes at 25°C Drop coat (mist or orientation coat) for metallics: Just before full coat completely matt Application 4 Applying Viscosity: 22-26 seconds DIN Cup No 4 at 23°C Pot-life: All mixed solid and pearl colors: 6 months at 20°C Metallic colors: 3 months at 20°C Check again viscosity, add Spraying Solvent if necessary Best prepare and spend mixed paint on same day !! Quality Features • Fast Drying • High Opacity (especially Alu’s) • User friendly preparation (no separate • • • binder) Non-stir mixing system Good coverage - about 2 liters paint for overall repair (whole car) for a mediumsized passenger car needed Raw Material Suppliers Marketleaders High Quality & Good Price FAQ’s – Application 1 • How to reduce the flash-off times? 1. 2. 3. Rise temperature inside spraying booth Use air acceleration (fans, blowers) Combination of the above Keep fans, blowers in distance >1m, otherwise they could cause paint defects. • What is the maximum layer thickness to apply? Optimum layer thickness lies between 15-25 μm. A higher layer thickness will increase the risk to create a weakened system, reducing its mechanical properties and appearance. • Is it possible to use the same gun for both water and solventborne paint products? This is not recommended. Residual impurities can cause craters to occur in either product when the same spray gun is used. Therefore use separate spray guns for waterborne and solvent borne paint products FAQ’s – Application 2 • What is the maximum recoat time in which the basecoat must be recoated with a clearcoat? Maximum recoat time is 24 hours. Preferable, apply the clearcoat within the same day as the basecoat application. • What if the ambient conditions exceed limits given? Recommended conditions: 25°C / 30-70% RH AQUA-BODY drying behavior is more depended on air humidity than on temperature. AQUA-BODY will dry slower when the air humidity is high, avoid conditions over 80% RH. Temperatures above 35°C will not cause difficulties when air acceleration systems are used. IMPORTANT: Metallic surface to paint (e.g. car) and paint itself should have a temperature of about 25°C, as well as air in spraying booth. FAQ’s – Application 3 • Is it necessary to spray a final drop coat (mist) when applying aluminums? • The final drop coat, also called orientation coat, helps to control cloudiness/mottling and creates a very even appearance. Best result when applied as a cross layer. What is best to use to clean the spray-gun? Use AQUA BODY 772 DEGREASER, for difficult to remove impurities use first a solvent-based cleaner. • Spraying-Booth specifications: Air-flow rate equal or greater than 19,000 m3/h FAQ’s - Mixing • What if the viscosity is still higher than recommended, after adding the spraying solvent? Add some more spraying solvent, not exceeding a total 20%, in this case paint could run, drying could get slower and slight difference in shade could occur. • Is tap water suitable to reduce the paint? NO! Tap water contains various minerals/salts that will impact the durability and final appearance of the finish. • What to do when paint seems to gel in the bottle? In this case stir well with a spatula. Tinter should recover, if not it is not suitable for usage. • What if paint is exposed to freezing conditions? Gelling and clumping will occur, the paint should no longer be used and must be thrown away. FAQ’s - Colour • Waterborne binder particles inside the paint creates a bluish color effect of the paint when it is wet. Accurate color judgment can only be made when the basecoat is completely dry and covered with a clearcoat. Never try to match colour when wet. • Different ways of application can cause slight differences in shade
