Jackson won the first Championships of America held in in 1864. He was also known to be the first person who incorporated dance and ballet movements into regular skating. Jackson also invented a blade made for figure skating. •At first, only men were allowed to compete in figure skating, but in 1902 a women entered the world figure skating championships. This was not approved of and they banned women from competing against men. In 1906, a separate event for ladies was established. FACTS!
