Connections via station Kerkrade
(for those who fly through Schiphol Airport or come from Amsterdam)
There is a direct train service from Schiphol Airport to Heerlen, departing from platform 1 or 2.
Note: If you have spent a few days in Amsterdam before the conference and travel from the
Amsterdam city center, make sure you go to the Amsterdam Zuid train station (e.g. by tram 5, metro
51), where you board the (same) direct train to Heerlen, departing from platform 1 or 2.
Buy your one way ticket at the station (at a ticket machine or at the ticket booth), take a one way
ticket to Kerkrade Centrum, it costs approximately € 26 (2nd class) or € 45 (1st class). Dutch railway
companies are notoriously bad with credit cards, so may be cash is the best option.
In Heerlen, you change trains to Kerkrade Centrum, platform 1 (you have ample time to change

at 12.30 in the Schiphol Station Hall at the Burger King. Andrew will then coordinate buying tickets

For those who arrive between 14:26 and 18:26 (see time schedule above), we have arranged for a
special ECCA bus to take you from Kerkrade Centrum train station to Rolduc Abbey. If you arrive at
Kerkrade Centrum outside the time schedule above, there will not be an ECCA bus for you. We advise
you then to either walk (25’) or take a taxi. Kerkrade is a rather small station, the availability of taxis

808 0107. It usually takes up to 30 minutes to get a taxi then, so it may be advisable to already phone
