Conclusion
What’s Fashion?

For centuries individuals or societies
have used clothes and other body adornment
as a form of nonverbal communication
to indicate occupation, rank, gender, locality,
class, wealth and group affiliation. Fashion is
a form of free speech. It not only embraces
clothing, but also accessories, jewellery,
hairstyles, beauty and body art. What we wear
and how and when we wear it, provides others
with a shorthand to subtly read the surface of
a social situation.
What is Haute Couture?
Costume and Fashion history would not be the same without Haute
couture.
Haute Couture is a French phrase for high fashion. Couture means
dressmaking, sewing, or needlework and haute means elegant or high,
so the two combined imply excellent artistry with the fashioning of
garments. The purchase of a haute couture model garment is at the
top level of hand customised fashion design and clothing
construction made by a couture design house. A model haute couture
garment is made specifically for the wearer's measurements and body
stance. The made to measure exclusive clothes are virtually made by
hand, carefully interlined, stay taped and fitted to perfection for each
client.

Coco Chanel
Gabrielle Bonheur Chanel [1883–1971]
French fashion designer b. Saumur.She
established a millinery shop in Deauville in
1909, founded her first house of couture
there in 1913, and opened in Paris in 1914.
An enormously influential designer from
the mid-1920s on, she was noted for her
simple, elegant modern styles: jersey
dresses, especially the “little black dress,”
and suits; perfumes, notably Chanel No. 5,
created in 1922; black or gray pullovers with
white piqué collars and cuffs; boxy, braidtrimmed suits; trousers for women; and
clothing generally designed for comfort.
Among the most imitated of all designers
she had a major resurgence of popularity
beginning in 1954, when she reopened the
business she had closed (1930) at the
beginning of World War II. Her fashion
empire ranged from Chanel suits and
quilted handbags with chains to costume
jewelry and a textile house.

Warm - Up
The main idea of the project is to show what place
in our life does fashion occupies. Also I want to tell
you about the most famous designers of the world
and I want you to get acquainted with some of their
collections.

Influences on Millennium Fashion
No doubt individuals will soon start to seek out
little dressmaker clothes as young girls did when
they patronised. Certainly those with real money
hardly want to be seen sporting the same designer
top or handbag as their best friend and at a hugely
inflated price. The purpose of fashion is to reveal
individual differences not provide identikit
uniforms. Spotting or setting a trend early is
crucial to the integrity of fashion makers. Films
are still important as influences on fashion and
trends for fashion, make up, hairstyles and
jewellery. A recent example of this is the influence
of the Nicole Kidman film Moulin Rouge and the
lace Edwardian clothing that has been copied for
the high street.

Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana
The fact that Dolce and
Gabbana have understood the
pulse of the moment both for
men and women is no secret.
Their trendsetting styles had
their cash register ringing up
sales of more than $916 million
for one year, marking an
increase of almost 30 percent at
a moment when many are
lamenting a stagnant fashion
market.

Donatella Versace
Donatella Versace's super styles carry on the
family tradition of marrying fashion with rock
'n' roll, started by her enormously talented
brother, Gianni, who was murdered in
1997.Even her home is decorated in strong,
Neo-classic prints that Versace is known for.
She is behind the Palazzo Versace in Australia
(the first of seven planned worldwide), an
upscale hotel that opened in late 2000 that
bears the Versace design stamp. Her teenage
daughter, Allegra, inherited 45 percent of the
company when her uncle Gianni died;
Donatella holds 20 percent, her brother Santo,
35 percent. The customer she designs
for: Sleek, and not afraid to be center of
attention. Notable quote: "My inspiration is still
rock and roll, but now it's lady rock and roll.
The look is more refined, and more
glamorous."

Alexander McQueene
Born in the East End of London in 1970, the son
of a taxi driver, Alexander McQueen fast rose
through the fashion ranks to become one of the
leading lights of international design.
He graduated from Central St Martins College of
Art & Design in 1991, with a display of such flair
and innovation that he was immediately awarded an
apprenticeship with Savile Row tailors Anderson &
Sheppard. He went on to work for Romeo Gigli
and Koji Tatsuno, before opening his own studio in
East London. Having introduced his label,
McQueen managed to secure tabloid headlines with
the launch of his infamous, low-cut 'bumsters',
while his beautifully crafted and often outrageous
designs attracted a small but fiercely loyal clientele,
including such influential fashion figures as stylist
Isabella Blow, who was sitting on the front row of
his MA show. She wore one of the outfits he
presented in a Vogue shoot in November 1992 and
has championed his work ever since.

Conclusion
We have just compaired photos of the spring
fashion shows (2002 – 2006) and my conclusion
sounds as:
Fashion doesn’t stands at place! It moves with the
time and in my opinion it is really necessary to
follow fashion.
If you are invited to a party

Black Tie Optional – a man in a
formal dark suit with a tie
Black Tie (Formal) –A man in a
suit or dinner jacket, a woman in
a long dress. A cocktail dress is
possible.
Semi-formal – (after 6 p.m.) a
suit for men, a cocktail dress for
women; ( before 6 p.m.) an
ordinary suit for men, a
beautiful dress for women
White Tie – a man in a dinner
jacket, with a white tie “
butterfly”, wearing a white waist
coat is obligatory; a woman in a
long dress with sleeves. No bare
hands-wear gloves! No cheap
jewellery!
Are you into fashion?
Are You
a fashionable
person?
Yes, really.
I always try to follow
the latest fashion
trends.
I constantly look for
new things . Never miss
fashion shows on TV.
I can’t be called a
fashionable person. I never
follow modern
fashion.
Not so much, but I
dislike people who
don’t pay attention
to what they wear.
It’s rather difficult to follow
ever changing fashion rules. If
I had more time and money…
In fact,I find enough time to
take care of my appearance.
To my mind being comfortably
not smartly dressed though is
also important.

It’s just ridiculous to think all fashion designers originated from
France.
Not many people can follow fashion rules nowadays. It depends
from their social background, family income and character.
I don’t think I can be called a trendy person. Sometimes I am on
fashion, sometimes I am out of it.
If you take care for your clothes, no matter they are trendy or
not, you will always make a pleasant impression to people.
Why should I follow those ever- changing rules of fashion?
Now high-heeled shoes then low-heeled ones! I never catch on
with it!
I’d like to take to a career of a model . I’m really into fashion
and will do my best to make my dream come true.
