Primary Six Halloween Unit
Enter the haunted house..
Fill in the Gaps in your booklet (1)
Halloween comes from the
phrase “All Hallows Eve”.
The Halloween tradition
comes from England and
Ireland. Halloween began
as a festival to celebrate
the end of summer. The
meaning of Halloween
has changed over the
years...
Fill in the Gaps in your booklet (2)
Halloween became a night
of horror. Irish children
carved out pumpkins and
lit them with candles for
Halloween. Now people
dress up in scary
costumes. After dark,
costumed children go
from house to house
demanding sweets.
Kids in the USA and Britain love
dressing up at Halloween.
They visit houses,
sing songs or tell a joke to get
sweets.
Many go to Halloween parties and
play games like "ducking for apples".
You must pick up an apple in water
but you can only use your mouth.

If two witches wear two watches,
which witch would wear which watch?
Helen hardly ever heard the horrible haunted
house's Halloween howl.
If black bats could blow bubbles, how big
bubbles would black bats blow?
Gary's green ghosts get going gamely
The wise witch went walking with William's owl's
wing.
Don't buy big black cats or blind bats' blood !

Usually if I put Sun block

Facts about Halloween
Of all fruits and vegetables, pumpkin is the
best source of vitamin A. Just a half cup of
pumpkin has more than three times the
recommended daily requirement.
A traditional food eaten on
Halloween is barnbrack, a
kind of fruitcake that can be
bought in stores or baked at
home.
A muslin-wrapped treat is
baked inside the cake that, it
is said, can foretell the
eater's future. If a ring is
found, it means that the
person will soon be married ;
a piece of straw means that a
prosperous year is on its way.
