The vcv syllable can be divided two
ways. Most of the time, the vcv
syllable is divided after the first
vowel.

When the syllable is divided after the
first vowel, the syllable is an open
syllable and produces a long vowel
sound.

consonant, the syllable is a closed
syllable and produces a short vowel
sound.

consonants.
