(Climate Change: Cloud's Impact on IT Organizations and Staffing, November 2012) Technology Certifications • Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) – Recognition of core skills in Office applications – Earning a Microsoft Office Specialist certification is a prerequisite to pursuing the higher-level Microsoft certifications. • CompTIA A+ – covers the fundamentals of computer technology, installation and configuration of PCs, laptops and related hardware, and basic networking. – covers the skills required to install and configure PC operating systems, as well as configuring common features for mobile operating systems. The injury rate for workers ages 16-24 is twice that of the general population Safety Certifications • CareerSafe Safety Awareness Training – topics covered include, preventing falls, personal protective equipment, electrical safety, hazard communication, machine guarding, and other common workplace safety principles that provide a basic foundation of workplace safety practices. • OSHA 10-Hour General Industry Training – provides training for entry level workers and employers on the recognition, avoidance, abatement, and prevention of safety and health hazards in workplaces in general industry. Certified Nurse Aide • Principles of Health Science – provides an overview of the therapeutic, diagnostic, health informatics, support services, and biotechnology research and development systems of the health care industry • Medical Terminology – students will learn the terminology related to health care, communicate using the terminology applicable to the health care industry, use available resources, and appropriately use health care terms Health Science Clinical Rotations • Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital two days a week • Other area health care facilities one day a week – Heritage Trails Care Center – Nolan River Animal Hospital – Cleburne Eye Clinic – Cleburne Fire Department Health Science Practicum CNA • Classes are held at Heritage Trails Care Center three days a week for two class periods beginning at 7:45 AM • At the end of the course, students will take State Administered Test to become certified as Nurse Assistants Future Certification Areas • • • • • Education Sales and Retail Management Restaurant Management Emergency Medical Services Criminal Justice Johnson County Course Sharing • Beginning with the 2010-2011 school year, the nine school districts in Johnson County began to share available seats for high school core and elective credit classes. • Districts that did not have the facilities or instructors required to offer a class could send their students to another district to earn credit for a class. • The Home district pays the Providing district according to the current weighted funding formula multiplied by the adjusted based allotment.
