TITLE IX 25 Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 (Title IX) mandates compliance with regulations prohibiting gender discrimination and inequity in athletics. The U. S. Department of Education implements the regulations which apply to all public and private educational institutions that receive Federal financial aid or assistance. Title IX states that: No student shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in or denied equitable benefits of educational, athletic or extra-curricular programs or activities.
