Montessori Method with Adults:
Video interview with expert
Interview questions:
(6) Although adult education is different from that of child
education, in your view, how can the Montessori Method be
used to develop the social and emotional skills of adults
within the framework of tasks training/education?
Answer:
Montessori Method contains knowledge of children’s
psychology in different age groups. On my opinion, although
Montessori Method in not has been used for adults yet, if we
take in account the age of individual, his needs, it is possible
to use this method due to it’s slenderness.
(7). It is accepted that Montessori Method helps “the
child” construct “the adult” while “the adult” is adding to
an already-existing completed personality, however, how
could the Montessori Method be adapted within the
framework of vocational training/education to activate the
creative side of adults?
Answer:
Not only the children have to grow and develop - adults
too. Montessori Method could be used to individualise the
vocational education, to give a free choice in learning
process, in programmes and forms, in occupations which
are more attractive for adult student.
(8). How could the Montessori Method be adapted to
create tasks training/practical learning approaches for
adults to gain practical skills within a” space of learning”?
Answer:
People usually choose profession according to their hobby
or proclivity. Creating the tasks we have in mind target
group which is purposefully determined to learn a
profession. Joining the process student has an image of
profession or, may be, some social skills for this job. The
tasks have to promote development of social and
professional skills, to encourage self-confidence.
(9). Can you talk about some of the vocational
training/educational initiatives using the Montessori
Method for adults in order to reintegrate them into the
labour market?
Answer:
If the student has strong motivation for changing the
profession or the way of life in common, Montessori
Method can make the process attractive and interesting
(10). Is there anything else you would like to say about the
application of Montessori Method Approach to adults?
Answer: Montessori Method is actually a philosophy.
Method encourages individual to develop harmoniously,
not only improve social and professional skills, but to be
self-confident, spiritually strong. It makes your life easier.
Spiritually strong person creates beautiful world. Maria
Montessori aimed to grow up kind and good personalities.
Using Montessori method with children we notice that they
have better mutual relations, understanding and respect.
These skills are actual today. Montessori philosophy can
be helpful for adults too.
